Scroll depth (scroll rate)

Scroll depth, or scroll rate, measures how far a user scrolls down a web page, indicating which sections of content are actually viewed by visitors. This metric is essential for understanding whether key content is being viewed or ignored, and helps optimize content layout and order to maximize engagement and conversions.

In addition, scroll depth can provide information on the potential impact of a change on a page for A/B testing and calculation of its Minimum Detectable Effect (MDE).

An inconspicuous modification, located in an area that few users reach, is less likely to have a major impact on performance, and will require a longer test duration to achieve statistically significant results.
