Real-time personalization
A technique for adapting a website's content in real time based on user behavior or characteristics.
A technique for immediately adapting the content, interface or messages of a website or application, based on a user's behavioral, contextual or demographic data, collected in real time. Unlike static personalization, this approach responds instantly to signals emitted by the user during their session — without waiting for pre-existing segmentation.
🎯 Objective:
Deliver a smoother, more relevant and contextualized user experience, capable of capturing attention from the very first moments of browsing, and increasing the chances of conversion, retention or engagement.
🧩 Examples of applications:
- Personalized product recommendations based on real-time browsing behavior (clicks, pages viewed, cart abandonment),
- Conditional display of messages: free shipping banner based on location, promotional banner based on entry source (SEA, email, social…),
- Editorial or visual content adapted based on weather, time of day, or CRM profile,
- Urgency or social proof block ("12 people are viewing this product", "Offer valid for 2 more hours").
💡 Data used in real time:
- Browsing behavior (pages visited, time spent, clicks),
- Contextual data (device, geographic location, entry channel),
- Historical or CRM data (if the user is logged in or recognized),
- Disengagement signals (mouse movement toward closing, inactivity...).
🧪 Integration into a CRO strategy:
Dynamic personalization is a powerful lever for immediate conversion because it enables:
- to reduce friction by offering the right content at the right time,
- to increase the perceived value of the offer based on the profile,
- to adapt CTAs and offers to maximize relevance,
- to test different targeting logics in an A/B or multivariate approach.
🛠️ Tools and platforms:
- Dynamic Yield (with custom evaluators),
- AB Tasty, Kameleoon, Optimizely (with behavioral targeting logic),
- Segment / CDP to enrich user profiles and activate omnichannel scenarios.
