User Experience (UX)
User experience (UX) is the set of interactions and perceptions a user has while using a website.
The set of perceptions, emotions and interactions experienced by a user when navigating a website, an application or any other digital product. UX goes far beyond simple design: it includes ease of use, journey efficiency, content comprehension, loading time, consistency of interactions, and even the emotional response generated by the interface.
A good UX aims to make products useful (meeting a real need), usable (easy to understand and operate) and enjoyable (satisfying to use). It helps reduce friction, improve engagement and increase conversions, while fostering user loyalty.
UX vs UI:
- UX = the overall perception of the experience (useful, smooth, reassuring),
- UI (User Interface) = the visual interface (graphics, colors, typography, visible interactions).
UX relies on UI, but is not limited to it: a beautiful interface (UI) that is poorly designed functionally (UX) can generate frustration and harm performance.
UX challenges in CRO:
In a Conversion Rate Optimization strategy, UX is a central lever for:
- facilitating user journeys (navigation, search, checkout),
- avoiding friction points (slow loading, error messages, overly long forms),
- improving content comprehension (clarity of offers, information hierarchy),
- strengthening trust (reassuring design, social proof, smoothness),
- testing UX variations through A/B tests or user prototypes.
Examples of high-impact UX optimizations:
- Simplifying forms (fewer fields, clear labels),
- Instant visual feedback (button states, inline errors),
- Content prioritization (explicit headings, visible buttons),
- Mobile-first design (touch-friendly navigation, fast display),
- User testing during the discovery phase to understand blockers invisible to analytics.
